S355J2W+N is a medium tensile, low-carbon manganese weathering steel that is readily weldable and possesses good impact resistance, including in low temperatures. This material is commonly supplied in untreated or normalized conditions. The machinability of this material is similar to that of mild steel. S355J2W is equivalent to a Cor-Ten B steel plate. S355J2W is also used in cold-rolled steel profiles, which are hot-dipped galvanized. It has a minimum yield strength of 355 MPa and an impact energy of -20C of 27J. This type of steel is commonly used in outdoor structures where the opportunities for inspection are minimal or non-existent, and where weathering steel would be likely to outperform alternative materials in their service life.
