Product details

Precipitated silica, an amorphous form of silica, is a white and powdery material that is produced by precipitation from a solution containing silicate salts. It is one of the three main classes of amorphous silica, the others being pyrogenic silica and silica gel. The production of precipitated silica involves precipitating silicate salts from a solution sourced from quartz sand, a crystalline form of silicon dioxide. There are various ways to control the physical characteristics of precipitated silica during production, resulting in high-performance products for various end uses. Precipitated silica finds its application in many industries, such as adhesives, PVC sheets, textile cots and aprons, rubber and plastics, toothpaste, food processing, and pharmaceuticals. It is widely used as a filler, softener, and performance improver in rubber and plastics. It serves as a cleaning, thickening, and polishing agent in toothpaste and as an anti-caking and thickening agent in food processing and pharmaceuticals. A significant application of precipitated silica is as an adhesive, where it can strengthen bonds and improve bond strength, especially in natural and synthetic rubber-based adhesives. It is also used as a component in PVC sheets, where it improves pigment dispersion, works as a separating agent, and enhances flow. In textile cots and aprons, precipitated silica is used as reinforcing silica. Silica provides thixotropy, reinforcement, and promotes adhesion. It serves as extenders, raising quality, and lowering costs. Precipitated silica prevents resin separation and the settling of pigments and heavy fillers. It is used in shoe soles for its resistance to wear and tearing, its non-scuffing characteristics, and to obtain compounds with light color or even transparent materials. Precipitated silica is used to prevent cracking and cut the growth of conveyor belts and power transmission belts. It finds its application in railway pads, rubber rollers, and rice rollers.
