Paecilomyces lilacinus is a biological control agent for the management of plant parasitic nematodes in wide range of crops. The product, PECILIA 1.0% W.P. contains Paecilomyces lilacinus. which protects the root system against plant parasitic nematodes, specifically root-knot nematodes and others. Nematodes damage the plant roots and reduce the water and nutrient uptake resulting in reduction of yield. In addition, the infested plant becomes more vulnerable to other stress factors such as heat, water, nutritional deficiencies and disease causing pathogens. It is difficult to manage these nematodes with existing chemical pesticides.
