HIV-1 and HIV-2 antibodies (IgG, IgM, and IgA) can be simultaneously detected and differentiated in human serum, plasma, and whole blood using the HIV 1&2 Rapid Test, a lateral flow immunoassay. It is meant to serve as both a screening tool and a diagnostic tool for HIV infection. Any specimen that tests positive for HIV-1 and 2 must be verified using an additional diagnostic method, such as PCR or ELISA.
