Clove (Syzygium aromaticum) is a spice native to Indonesia, particularly from the Maluku Islands, consisting of aromatic dried flower buds from a tree in the Myrtaceae family. This plant has a hardwood trunk growing to a height of 20-30 metres, with reddish-green leaves. Indonesian cloves are renowned for their high eugenol content, dark brown colour, and are widely used in kretek cigarettes, culinary seasoning, and traditional medicine.
