Product details
Candlenut (Aleurites moluccana) is a versatile tropical tree from the Euphorbiaceae family that is widely distributed in Indonesia. It is often used as a kitchen spice, a source of vegetable oil, in the cosmetics industry, and in paints. This tree features a dense crown, growing up to 2,540 metres, and its seeds have a hard, woody shell with a high oil content. The candlenut fruit is oval-shaped, about 5 cm in diameter, and turns from green to brown when ripe. Inside the fruit, there are 12 seeds surrounded by a very hard and coarse shell. These seeds have a distinctive aroma and are rich in oil. Candlenut seeds contain beneficial oils, such as unsaturated fatty acids, protein, and vitamins. Its oil is used in the paint, varnish, ink, biodiesel fuel, and hair and skin cosmetic industries.
