Candlenut (Aleurites moluccana) is a versatile tropical tree from the Euphorbiaceae family that is widely distributed in Indonesia. It is often used as a kitchen spice, a source of vegetable oil, in the cosmetics industry, and in paints. This tree features a dense crown, growing up to 2,540 metres, and its seeds have a hard, woody shell with a high oil content. The candlenut fruit is oval-shaped, about 5 cm in diameter, and turns from green to brown when ripe. Inside the fruit, there are 12 seeds surrounded by a very hard and coarse shell. These seeds have a distinctive aroma and are rich in oil. Candlenut seeds contain beneficial oils, such as unsaturated fatty acids, proteins, and vitamins.
